BJ Chakiris serves as
CEO of BJ Chakiris Corporation.
Her firm specializes
in business simulations and organization development with over 50
worldwide simulations designs of board games, behavioral, computer
assisted and custom programs with designers/faculty of North America,
Asia, and Great Britain. Clients include Ford, General Motors, Motorola,
Tellabs, Eaton Corporation, National Steel, Mercedes Cycle and Carriage
Malaysia, Tenneco, Chrysler Corporation, Consumers Energy, Nestle
International, Telekom Malaysia, and BorgWarner Automotive.
Her organizational studies
include a five year study on Worker and Job Obsolescence; Benchmarking,
Total Cycle Time, and Global Leadership. She trained Motorola University
application team in consultation skills for worldwide practices.
She has worked in various international assignments in Europe, Mexico,
Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Australia. BJ's career includes
CEO of Organization Renewal Inc. an international consortium; professional
leadership roles in ASTD (American Society of Training and Development)
as Council Chair of Professional Practice Areas, Executive Director
of Career Development, and Board Member of International Professional
Practice Area. She received two ASTD awards—Walt Storey (of GE)
Leadership Award (1988), and International Practitioner Award (1994).
She is a program coordinator with Human Resource Planning Society.
BJ is co-author of Change
Management: A Model for Effective Organizational Performance (1993)
and Growing Change Management Competencies (1995) with P.K.
Felkins, and K.N. Chakiris; and with K.N. Chakiris—two assessment
tools—Global Leadership Competencies 360° and Global Leadership
Behavioral Simulation. Other articles are: Organization Development
and the Consulting Sociologist; Manager As Career Counselor; and
Redefining Jobs, Work and Careers. Course designs include: Leadership
Patterns, Change Management, Consultation Skills, Life/Work Goals
Exploration, People in Planning.
BJ is council member
of Systems Renewal Institute a not-for-profit educational alliance
with Antioch University offering Whole Systems Design Graduate Degree
Program through OSR Midwest and OSR Northwest ( Organization Systems
Renewal of Chicago and Seattle).
BJ's undergraduate/post
graduate studies are in systems renewal, communications and philosophy.
She served (14 years) as graduate school faculty-adjunct and practicum
advisor for Loyola University Center for Community and Organization
Development (CORD), and faculty-adjunct to Loyola's HR/Industrial
Relations Institute and the Lutheran School of Theology of Chicago.
She serves as: Chair, Board of Trustees, Lutheran Child and Family
Service of Illinois; Board Member, Center for Ethics and Corporate
Policy; Chair, United Way Agency Services of Chicago—where she received
The Volunteer Leadership award (1995); council member of LSA Leadership
Institute (Lutheran Services of America)—a newly formed organization
(1998) comprised of leaders /boards of humancare agencies.
